Smart Parts Armrest Installation Guide

1. Make a paper pattern of the arm rest and cut it out.

2. Sit in the car with the steering wheel, column, pedals, and seat in final position.
With your right hand place the armrest and the door panel under the left arm in a
relaxed driving position. Try a few different positions until you find the one that works best. Mark the outline of the armrest on to the door panel.

3. Determine the ideal mounting positin for the 1/4 inch s.s. machine screws and mark the location on to the pattern. Punch out 1/8 inch holes on the pattern. Place pattern on to the door panel and mark the mounting holes. You will also need to transfer these marks on to the armrest and drill 1/8 inch pilot holes. Drill out armrest to 3/8 inch and install armrests with 1/4 inch Allen key or 6 mm Allen key. Do over tighten. Remove door panel and drill out the mounting holes to 1/4 inch or slightly larger to ease aliqnment. Install armrest on to the
door panel, reinstall door panel and checK the fit.

4. If door panel flexes too much, either laminate another panel on to the backside of the door panel to stiffen it or use a screw either above or below the pull cup.

5. Transfer measurements of the arm rest placement on to the passenger door and repeat the mounting instructions from step 3

The armrests should be sanded and wiped with wax and grease remover before covering. They can be covered in any material, or painted to match or contrast the interior or exterior colors of the vehicle
