Smart Parts Speaker Pod / Map Pocket Installation Guide

Use the template from the speaker manufacturer. Center this onto pod, and mark out the opening and mounting holes. Drill out the mounting holes to manufacturer specifications, and cut out the hold using a jig saw with a bi metal blade.

Test fit the speaker and cut out the backside of the pod for magnet clearance if necessary. If not, then drill a hole for speaker wires.

Place the speaker pod onto a door panel in the desired location, making sure there is ample clearance at the doorsill and front quarters. Also check seat clearance.

Mark out the pod outline onto each door panel. Remove door panel and drill out 4 - 1/8" pilot holes in desired location.

Suggested Locations

Position the pod back onto the door panel and transfer the pilot holes onto the pod. Drill 1/8" pilot holes onto the pod, and then re-drill to 3/8" and thread in anchors using a 1/4" or 6mm Allen wrench. Do not over tighten.

Drill out door panel to 5/16". Test install pod onto a door panel and reinstall the door panel. Check your clearances. Repeat this procedure for the other door.

Be sure to sand the pods and clean with wax and grease remover before covering, or preparing for the pods for paint.
